What is Attention Coaching

Attention, ADHD or Executive Function Coaching

Whether you call it Attention, ADHD, or Executive Function Coaching, the "focus" is all the same.  Similar to life coaching, Attention Coaching addresses the needs and goals of the individual being coached.  A trained ADHD coach, takes life coaching and adds an additional layer of support by incorporating tools and techniques that address the challenges of life with ADHD or Executive Function issues.  ADHD Coaches therefore focus on working with clients on their personal goals and the pragmatic issues of achieving them while living with ADHD.

ADHD Coaching is a collaborative, supportive, goal-oriented process in which the coach and the client work together to identify the client’s goals and then develop a plan based on self-awareness, systems, strategies and tools necessary for the client to achieve those goals and move forward in life.

ADHD Coaches work with individuals who are diagnosed with ADHD and individuals that are not diagnosed, but want to improve their executive function skills for a less chaotic life.  The executive function skills that are addressed through ADHD coaching are:

  • Paying attention.
  • Organizing, planning and prioritizing.
  • Starting tasks and staying focused on them to completion.
  • Understanding different points of view.
  • Regulating emotions.
  • Self-monitoring (keeping track of what you're doing)
